Suspending, Withdrawing or Reducing the Scope of Certification

Suspension of Certification
1. Several scenarios can result in certificates being suspended :

They include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • i) The Client may request an approved contract to be terminated- voluntarily
  • ii) A client may miss a scheduled surveillance.
  • The following cases may arise:

  • 1. The first surveillance audit after the initial audit is not completed within 12 months from the last day of the Initial stage 2 audit.
  • 2. The second surveillance after the initial audit is not completed within 27 months from the last day of the initial stage 2 audits.
  • 3. The first and the second surveillance audits subsequent to recertification audit are not completed within 15 and 27 months respectively from last day of the recertification audit.
  • iii) Client fails to maintain the approved QMS.
  • iv) A client may violate its agreement with AGSI-CPL or the applicable registration guidelines, such as misuse of the marks/logos of AGSI-CPL or of the Accreditation Body
  • v) A client may go out of business, merge with, or be acquired by another entity
  • vi) When a major non-conformance is issued at a routine surveillance and appropriate corrective actions are not taken by the client within the time specified.
  • vii) When a large number of complaints or serious complaints received against the client or if the client does not respond to complaints routed through AGSI or its accredited body.
  • viii) Non payment of outstanding dues

  • 2. Client is issued a suspension notice stating the reason for suspension. If the client does not take appropriate corrective action and / or respond within 3 months, AGSI-CPL reserves the right to withdraw certification.

    3. During the period of suspension, the client can no longer claim to be certified by AGSI-CPL and stop using the logos of certification body or accreditation body in any of the publicity material, stationery or elsewhere.

    4. Suspension can be revoked after routine surveillance in case ii) above or after a special surveillance in case vi) has been carried out to verify that the corrective action has been implemented and is affective in eliminating the reasons for suspension.

    5. At the discretion of the Director the client can be given another extension of the suspension period if warranted. The suspension would not, however, exceed six calendar months.

    Withdrawal of Certification
    6. As specified in section 2 and 4 if the decision to withdraw certification is taken, the client is asked to stop using the Accreditation body and the certification body logos in any of the publicity material, stationery or elsewhere with immediate effect. When certification is withdrawn, the company must withdraw all documents, which make use of the certification body and/or accreditation body logos.

    7. AGSI- CPL issues appropriate invoices for any outstanding dues and recovers the amount

    8. Suspension or withdrawal of certification is published by AGSI-CPL to any interested parties by whatever means is considered by AGSI-CPL to be most effective and appropriate and at the cost of client. Lists of certificates suspended and withdrawn appear in the AGSI-CPL Register of Certificate Holders until the company's status changes.

    9. Following the withdrawal of certification the client may apply for fresh certification as a new client.

    10. Director, AGSI-CPL, is authorized to decide about the suspension or withdrawal of certificate or revoking the decision on suspension

    Reducing the Scope Of Certification
    11. AGSI-CPL reduces the client scope of certification when a client persistently or seriously fails to meet the certification requirements for the parts of the scope of certification. The client's scope of certification is reduced to exclude the parts not meeting the requirements..
